Well, it’s 2010 now and what better way to ring in the new year than by creating a list of things to do! Haha, but seriously…lots of people believe in this New Year’s resolutions mumbo jumbo, so I thought, why not??
A recent article in the San Jose Mercury News on New Year’s resolutions had me laughing (especially the part where he wants to go to a foreign country): Tony Hicks: I’m aiming high with my New Year’s resolutions.
Anyway, here’s my list of New Year’s Resolutions, in no particular order:
Happy New Year!
- Get in (better) shape. That means more of the same -- hiking, biking, and (unfortunately) boot camp (ugh!). In 2010, I’d like to do a long bike ride or (gasp!) maybe a 1/2 marathon. (I’d even settle for doing a 1/4 marathon…if there was such a thing.) Mostly, I just wanna be able to eat red velvet Sprinkles cupcakes without feeling the guilt associated with them.
- To take a cue from one of my favorite Mark Twain quotes, I plan to explore, dream, and discover through travel! I’m already looking forward to some good times on our next trip to south Asia. As they say in south Asia: mazai aa! (fun comes!). (If you prefer an American saying, then: Let the good times roll!)
- Organize and clean. BOR-ing (I know, right?!)…but these are the things that must be done. First up on my list?: dropping off 2 boxes of donations at Salvation Army/Goodwill. Next up?: trying to sell our old bicycles that are just collecting dust (and rust!) in the garage. Maybe someone else will have a use for those clunkers cause we sure don’t! After that, I’d like to install some ceiling/wall storage for the one bike we’ll be keeping and for the winter ski gear. My husband is even jumping on the organization bandwagon with a couple of his own projects. GO TEAM Organize!
- Because I’m generally not a selfish person, I’d also like to volunteer some of my time to worthy causes and organizations. I did a little bit of that in 2009, but I’d like to do more.
Happy New Year!
My number one resolution this year is to not complain. I think it will transform my whole outlook on life. Also, like you, I'm trying to get in better shape! Best wishes for the new year
