Eid mubarak!

What a long (tiring) month it's been. I admit that, last year, I became lazy on some of the days I was fasting. A few times, I wore cheap flip flops to work (and I work in an office environment!). So it is with great honor that I declare that there was no laziness on my part this year!

On a personal note.... Some say that behind every successful man is a woman. This Ramadan, the opposite was true in our house. As often happens when you're tired and hungry...my output capacity was diminished. I was usually so exhausted in the evenings (both before AND after iftaar), that to be perfectly honest, the number of fresh dinner meals I cooked (on my own) can probably be counted on one hand. This Ramadan, my husband did an amazing job of keeping everything running smoothly in our home and making countless iftaars (and all without a single complaint!).  Thank you shauhar.

Here's a picture of our last iftaar...it was a little bittersweet, a lot euphoric.  (The quality of this picture is not great...the food tastes a LOT better than it looks, trust me!)

  1. MashaAllah! May Allah accept all your fasts this Ramadan and shower you and your husband with countless blessings. May He keep you on the straight path and strengthen your iman and the bond you two have. Ameen

I understand exactly what you're saying except I had to cook :( I have kids and sometimes they just didn't want a plate full of samosas and pakoras lol. I was so exhausted by the time iftar that all I wanted to do was sleep. I didn't feel like eating or drinking--just sleeping.

I think for me it was bittersweet in other ways, but now that it is over, I miss it.

My husband left for Pakistan on Thursday to spend Eid with his family...so yesterday was not the same. But alhamdulilah the kids and I had a good time. We shopped, ate well, and enjoyed each others company.

That was so very sweet of your husband to hold down the fort for you all. I find that we go through phases...sometimes it is him...sometimes it is me. That is what keeps up going I think

Anyway, hope you have a great weekend. Oh by the way, I've been trying out your words you have on one of your blogs. The Bas was a MUCH MUCH needed word for me lol. When he ventured into a topic I didn't feel like discussion for fear of an argument, I just said "BAS!" and he looked at me with a smile. I love that blog. I hope you will post more. The way you wrote it with the pronunciation was SO HELPFUL because I don't always know how to say it right.

  2. Thanks and (belated) Eid Mubarak to you!
Exhaustion played a HUGE part in this year's Ramadan for sure.

Your comment about "bas" was HILARIOUS...well played! I'll try to make more effort to not only feature words but the pronunciation of them as well, especially now that I know people are paying attention (ok, at least you are). :)

    Thanks for reading and commenting!
