Is something missing...?

I've been writing this blog since June 11, 2009 (over 1.5 years!). According to my tracking, it's received over 4,500 visitors with over 8,000 pageviews from 94 countries (to date).

If you've been following this blog for very long, then you've probably noticed that I've never showed any pictures of myself. When I first started writing it, I decided that I didn't want my face plastered all over it, especially since this is less of a personal/family blog and since some of my posts tend to be more general and thought-provoking.

But after nearly 150 blog posts, I wonder: is something missing...?

I follow multiple other blogs on various topics -- some personal, some not. Of those I follow that are personal, a few show pictures of themselves (and their families/friends) and at least one blogger shows pictures but uses a black circle over the faces of the author and family members/friends who are also in the pictures. I get the reasoning behind covering their faces with the black circle, but I can't say I'm a big fan of that practice. Personally/for my own blog, I sort of feel like it should all or nothing -- I'd either like to NOT show pictures (of myself or people I know) at all OR show pictures (with faces included).

So, I'm throwing this issue out to you, my regular blogger readers, to hear your opinions. (I'm still not sure that I DO want to include pictures of myself on this blog, but I'd like to at least hear what you think.)

So...is something missing? Do you wish I'd include pictures of myself? I've posted a poll on the main page and on this blog post (see question below). If you have anything more to add (after placing your vote), please feel free to leave a comment below.

Should this blog include pictures of Meliha?

  1. I think pictures help people identify with the writer!

  2. I was the same way in using pictures - I found that if you get a nice professional headshot to use it helps create your identity and increase your readers. People like to see who you are. Lately, there is so much spam or even landing pages, which become a nuisance. People forget to add who they are ~

  3. Blogs do not have to have personal pictures. It should be more about what you think rather than what you look like!

  4. Thanks for your opinions on the poll question.
