Seasons greetings

It's a common misconception that California doesn't have any seasons. We have them...they're just milder than other areas. Our summers never get very hot (though sometimes I wish they did). But it's also this year of year that I'm glad our winters never get very cold. (Especially after I heard from friends and family in Iowa that they're stuck in the middle of a blizzard so bad highways were closed and then I woke up to read that the Metrodome where the Minnesota Vikings play football collapsed after parts of Minnesota received over 23 inches of snow.)

As I mentioned last year, every year my husband and I love to see San Francisco's Union Square all decked out during the holidays, and this year was no exception. We got into the city in the early evening yesterday and made our way to Union Square after having an early dinner. The weather yesterday turned out to be really nice, and the city was packed with people(!). As per usual San Francisco weather, the city was blanketed with fog.

Macy's had their usual tree and light decorations just like last year (and probably every other year) and they also had some adoptable animals in some of the windows (like we saw last year though there seemed to be less this year). The "theme" of Macy's window decorations this year were centered around "Believe." Many were related to "Yes, Virginia, there is a Santa Claus."

The ice skating rink that's put in the middle of Union Square during the holidays was also in full swing. This year I also noticed a huge tree in Neiman Marcus.

One of the Macy's windows had a rotating tree that was made of paper (a short video is below and I have NO idea who that is speaking in the video...not us!).
