Recent changes to this blog

For those who are first-time visitors to this blog, WELCOME! I hope you like what you read (and if so, don't forget to follow!). For those who are return visitors, you may have noticed a few recent changes to this blog, the biggest of which are the name and URL.

Here are the changes:
  • The name of this blog has changed from ~ Straddling Continents and Cultures ~ to Adventures of a Desi Blonde
  • Along with the name change, comes a new URL: http://www.desiblonde.com.
It's short, sweet, and (hopefully) easy to remember. Don't forget to bookmark it (or update your existing bookmark)! :)
  • I also recently updated the Introduction page.

In case I haven't mentioned it before, I appreciate the reactions and comments some of you leave. If you have any general feedback or feedback on specific blog posts, feel free to drop me a line OR leave a reaction or comment. Thanks again for reading!

Uncorked! in Ghiradelli Square

What do you do when something doesn't work out as you expected? If you're anything like me, you might complain (like I did here) or at least spread the word about what happened.

One sunny spring day last year when my husband and I just happened to be in San Francisco, we made our obligatory usual stop at Ghirardelli for some ice cream before going home. We ended up stumbling into an event being held by Ghiradelli Square: Uncorked!. Over the years, we've been to some art and wine festivals around the bay area. Some were good, others....sucked not so much. More than anything, we go to check out the artsy stuff for sale and for people watching. (As I mentioned in my All Aboard! blog post, whether to sip or not to sip wine is...well, really up to you.)

Bike to Work Day

It's that time of year again...when the weather turns warmer and you just want to be outside doing some kind of activity.

May is National Bike Month, and for the past 3 years, I've participated in the Bay Area's annual Bike to Work Day.  Two of those years, I also captained teams in the Team Bike Challenge (where points are collected for bike riding throughout the entire month of May).
