The blanket

Several years ago, one of my husband's favorite shows was Everybody Loves Raymond.  At that time, we used to watch reruns of it almost every day. One of our all-time favorite episodes of the show is one titled The Suitcase/Baggage.

The premise of The Suitcase/Baggage episode is about a suitcase at the bottom of the stairs that neither Ray nor Debra want to move, and, like most things involving Ray on Everybody Loves Raymond, hilarity follows.

Do you ever have one of those days where you find yourself Googling strange topics?  That was me the other day when I Googled: "what to do when cow chasing you."

Whoever came up with this idea is a genius...

I'm not a regular reader of BBC News, so it was just sheer happenstance that I stumbled across an article today about something cool happening in Pakistan.  "What's this genius idea you speak of," you ask?

Out of the shadows and into the light

I started this blog in 2009 at a time when I wanted to add something creative to my life. At that time and since then, I've made a lot of effort to shield my picture and identity from this blog and from you, my readers. As much as I love blogging for this site and telling about my life, I guess I sort of felt a responsibility to myself and my family to maintain some level of privacy. And I appreciate all of you who've stuck by me and didn't pressure me while I kept all of that under wraps.

5 Myths about Muslims in America article

I hate reading negative news or stories when I pick up a newspaper, turn on the tv, or read a website. I know there's a lot of hatred and prejudice out there in the world, but I'm sick of seeing stuff like this.

Some days, I feel like we're never going to learn to live together peaceably.

Rukhsati can mean sadness, happiness, or...hilarity

In American culture, there can be any number of reasons why a bride might not be too "broken up" about leaving her family behind when she gets married and moves in with her husband. Maybe it's because of it being a "love" marriage (versus marriages sometimes being arranged in south Asian families) or because American marriages often occur at a time the bride and groom are no longer living at home with his or her parents or because the bride or groom are not on good terms with his or her parents or because a lot of Americans live together before getting married.  At any rate, sometimes in American weddings, the bride and groom are just way too excited to start their lives together and that includes living together.
