A couple of months ago, my mom told me about (and invited me to) an upcoming author event kicking off this year's Silicon Valley Reads. It turns out, this year's Silicon Valley Reads theme is "Muslim and American," and they've scheduled over 100 calendar events between January and April (2012) in support of that theme.
The (kickoff) event is later this month and will be an on-stage interview of:
I gladly accepted the invite from my mom…and then subsequently forgot about it. Until about a week ago, that is.

As of a little over a week ago, I had yet to read a single page of either book. (Oops!) I finally got my act together and bought G. Willow Wilson's The Butterfly Mosque: A Young American Woman's Journey to Love and Islam for my Kindle
(it's also available in hardback
and paperback
) and...subsequently finished it in under a week.
I've never participated in Silicon Valley Reads before, but I hope to read a few of the books this year. I'll be attending the event at the Heritage Theater in Campbell, California on Jan 25. For those of you in the San Francisco Bay area, leave a comment and let me know if you'll be there too!
