Remember when I told you about my Cheshire Cat costume for the Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse Royal Family 5K during Princess Half Marathon weekend?
Here are the ones I liked. (Keep in mind that these are only screen captures from pictures I found online.)
(Oh, and I'm kinda nervous about wearing the wig. Hope I don't chicken out!)
If not, this picture should serve as a little reminder.
Weeelllllll....I'm kinda taking it to the next level.
Last night, I put the finishing touches on a pair of ears(!), and this morning, I ordered a wig. A purple one.
I can't wait to show y'all how the whole ensemble looks.
It could be awhile before the wig arrives in the mail. So, in the meantime, you're gonna have to settle for a couple of teasers.
Here are the finished ears. I decided to go with a headband (versus attaching the ears to my dri-fit hat) because I'm planning to walk the 5K (instead of run) with a new friend.
The ears look a bit more like Snarf from Thundercats (see a picture here), but I completely designed them myself, and I think they turned out better than I expected. I'm ecstatic!
As for the wig, well, it was hard to decide which one to get. Over the last week, I placed multiple bids on several different pink-purple-ish wigs on eBay, but I kept getting outbid when the price went over what I wanted to pay.
So I took a step back on the whole wig thing and looked at the choices again. Which made me think maybe a pink wig isn't the way to go at all (after all, my pants are purple) and that maybe I needed a purple wig! (I also thought a purple wig might make the pink ears stand out more.)
So I took screen captures of pictures from the ones I liked and compiled them together in 1 image so I could look at all of the options side by side. (What...? This is a serious decision!)

I've already purchased my wig...but that shouldn't stop you from commenting! Which wig would you have chosen and can you guess which wig I chose? Leave a comment below. :)

I lie 1 andnad 3 for wig styles but mainly for their color.
ReplyDeleteI really liked #1! I've styled my hair like #4 before, and #6, #3, and #2 all look like haircuts I've had before but just without bangs (my haircuts, not the wig).
DeleteLove love love the wig idea - very cute! I have a feeling I'll be going pseudo-costume for the 5k...my main event (ahem costume) is for the half
ReplyDeletePseudo-costumes are great. I'm REALLY good at getting all matchy matchy with the colors....not so great with any real sewing skills...but whatevs. What can ya do? What costume are you putting together for the half and would you believe I was crazy enough to start a Facebook group devoted entirely to discussing race costumes? hahah I'm loving it. :)
